Nightflag

About

A small thing, built on purpose, for people with one or two places rather than four hundred.

Where the idea came from

Ask a host with two cabins how they price and you get a version of the same answer. Every few days they open four or five rival listings, click through the calendar, see what's changed, and adjust by feel. It takes about 45 minutes a week, it's genuinely useful, and nobody enjoys it.

The tools built to replace that job replace something else as well: the deciding. They connect to your calendar and move the number for you. For a manager with forty units that's the right trade. For someone with two, it hands over a judgement they were making perfectly well.

So the brief for Nightflag was narrow on purpose. Do the 45 minutes of looking. Don't do the deciding.

The name

A night is the unit you sell. A flag is a notification and nothing more — we raise one when something changes, then wait for you. That limit is the point: nothing here is going to touch your calendar.

Where it is now

Still being built, and there's no signup — the honest state of things is that a mailing list gathered now would be stale before there's anything to send to it.

What's worth doing right now is talking to hosts: where you are, who you watch, how often they move, and what would actually make you act on a message rather than glance at it. That's what's shaping the first version.
